Our History

Government Islamia Graduate College Faisalabad is recognized as an excellent educational institution. It is a great masterpiece of great scholarly traditions whose memory lives on in the hearts of former students who have reached important positions in various walks of life. On May 1951, Anjuman Islamia Lyallpur started the intermediate classes of Islamia College in the building of Muslim High School, Lyallpur. In 1954, the college was upgraded to degree level and shifted to the present sprawling campus of 140 kanals in Sargodha Road. On 1st Tambar 1972, like other institutions, the government also took it into custody. On 1st Tambar 197 AD the name of Kolailpur city was changed

Faisalabad became and this college was named as Government Islamia College Faisalabad. Since its inception, the college has achieved various milestones while maintaining the tradition of progress. In 1998, a science block was added to the spacious building of the college, which consisted of laboratories for biology, chemistry, physics and zoology in addition to four nature departments. In 1974, a new block was constructed for B.Sc classes and a new building for the college library was inaugurated on 21 March 1987. This library contains more than thirty four thousand books which are being added every year. The college also has a grand mosque which is one of the most beautiful mosques in the city. Apart from this, the college has football ground, cricket ground, athletics track and basketball courts. In 2011, Rana Muhammad Afzal, former MPA, released a special grant for the construction of Commerce Bula. Later, he took special interest in the construction and development of Bakhchit MNA College, building a new science block with sixteen classrooms, four laboratories for zoology, chemistry, computer science and physics, and a multi-purpose hall to accommodate about four hundred students. / Auditorium built. With the special efforts of Mr. Shakeel Shahid MPA 111-PP, a grant of 250 million rupees has been approved by the Punjab Government for the construction of 6 classrooms and a new block containing 6 classrooms has almost been completed. By which educational facility will be available for more 600 students. In 2013, the Higher Education Commission awarded the college X grade which is the second best grade. In the academic session 2014-15, admissions were released in English, Economics, Islam, Physics and Zoology under the BS four-year degree program. From the academic session 2015-16, BBA Business Administration in Murree Chemistry, Computer Science and Mathematics departments were also started under the BS four-year degree programme. BS Botany classes were also started in 2021. This institution has become the best educational institution for students due to highly qualified and experienced teachers, ideal educational environment, best discipline, beautiful building and other facilities.
